Your Excel PTO is SO excited about this coming school year!

 

As a completely new PTO board, we have spent a lot of time collaborating on how to better serve the school.  As you all know, it is required to have 80 volunteer hours per family (40 hours per family for single parent households); we have many exciting opportunities to serve out those hours!

 

 Along with being able to serve your children by volunteering in their classrooms, please remember that our wonderful school cafeteria is always looking for help, especially during Friday’ “Pizza Friday” time, (10:45-2:15pm). You should have received an email this weekend asking for volunteers so please consider signing up for this great opportunity to be with your child(ren) and their friends! You’ll also be helping our wonderful Cafeteria Manager, Sandy Hinojosa and Pizza Friday coordinator, Jamie Parks.

 

 

Volunteer of the Month-Volunteers are crucial to our school. The administration is so appreciative, and we want to thank you all of you for all of your hard work in the years past and all of the hard work that we know you will put in with this coming school year. We wanted to start of a Volunteer of the Month. There is a box located next to the Volunteer Sign In books with small pieces of paper. Each and every time you volunteer; please feel free to put your name in that box. At the end of each month, a name will be drawn and a winner will be announced in our next upcoming newsletter along with a small prize. The school would not be the awesome place that it is without our amazing volunteers and all that you do for our school!

 

Upcoming Events-

Harvest Festival is coming up and this is such a fun and exciting event for the Excel Academy community. It will be held on Saturday, October 13th. This fun family event takes place in the hallways and gymnasium of Excel which is transformed into a “spooktacular” Harvest Festival. You’ll enjoy the many food and fun booths that our middle schoolers run, (raising funds for their school trips with their booths), a fun maze for the kids to find their way out of, bouncy castles, and the list goes on! We would love to have you come and volunteer at this event.


Our first PTO meeting of the year will be held on September 6th at 6:30pm in the school library and YES, attending these meetings count towards your volunteer hours. It is a great meeting to attend to find out about what is going on at your school. Remember that the PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. This means that if you are a parent or staff member at the school that you are already a part of this. This is your PTO so please come and support it!

 

Meet our PTO:

This year, we are so excited to introduce our new PTO president Stephanie Jefferies. Stephanie has a 1st grader in Mrs. Zerrs’ classroom. Her and her husband also have two younger children at home. She has been very involved in the school in the past year and is very excited about taking on this new role as PTO president.

Harvest Festival, Butter Braids and Cookie Dough are also coming up soon so be looking for this in upcoming emails!
